Careers Expo Steering Commitee Nominations W.A.

This year the W.A. New Graduates Group has taken the reins planning the ALIA booth at the Perth Careers, Education and Employment Expo 12th - 15th May 2011.
http://careersandeducationexpo.exibit.com.au/

We are currently looking for volunteers who are passionate about their work in libraries to form the 2011 steering committee.

Volunteers should be able to commit to 2 face to face meetings of approximately 1 hour and enjoy working independently on tasks.

Ability to staff the booth during the expo and ALIA membership are desirable but not essential.

This is a perfect opportunity for Students and New Graduates to be involved in the promotion of libraries as well as gain experience working on a committee.

To express an interest in becoming part of the steering committee or for more information please email Tracie Pollin T.Pollin@murdoch.edu.au

The Smith Family Thanks ALIA NewGrads

For the end of year event in December, the Queensland New Graduates Group supported The Smith Family's Toy and Book Appeal. The Smith Family's online gift store made it possible for anyone to participate and contribute to this very worthy cause.

This is just a short note to let you all know that last week I was delighted to find a Certificate of Appreciation for the New Graduates Group in the mail.
To all those who donated (you know who you are), on behalf of the Smith Family and the ALIA New Graduates Group, THANK YOU.
Your donations are very much appreciated.

I hope we can organise another collection for Christmas this year.

Library Folk in the Pub, Melbourne, 15 February 2011

In February 2011, all librarian eyes are on Sydney for the ALIA Information Online Conference. But why should our northern neighbours have all the fun?

The ALIA New Graduates Group Committee in Victoria cordially invites you to the first Melbourne Library Folk in the Pub night for 2011. All are welcome, so bring your library and non-library friends! This is the first of many events for 2011, and just before the new semester starts, so we hope to see lots of library students as well as new librarians in attendance.

When: Tuesday 15 February, from 6pm
Where: Duke of Kent Hotel, 293 Latrobe Street, Melbourne. The table has been booked under 'ALIA'. For more information about the venue, visit their website.

Cost: at own expense.

Please RSVP your attendance to rparker@swin.edu.au by Monday 14 February at 12 noon so we can confirm numbers. (If there are too many of us we might have to hire out the MCG.)
